از گامهای کوچک بر فرش خانه تا پرچمداری یک ملت
مسیر این قهرمان از همان دوران کودکی و در یک محیط کاملاً ورزشی آغاز شد. درحالیکه اکثر کودکان در سهسالگی بازی میکردند، او گامهای نخست خود را بر روی تاتامی – یا بهتر بگوییم، فرش خانه – برای آموختن کاراته گذاشت. سارا تمرینات حرفهای خود را از چهارسالگی، زیر نظر مادر و خالهاش، که هر دو مربی بودند، آغاز کرد. این شرایط، یک مزیت بزرگ برای او بود؛ چرا که عشق به این ورزش را از همان ابتدا در عمق وجودش حس کرد. اما نقطه عطف، زمانی بود که در هشتسالگی، مربیانش متوجه استعداد بیمانند او شدند و راه برای تمرینات جدیتر گشوده شد.
بهمنیار خود میگوید: «وقتی بچه بودم باشگاه کاراتهای در آستانهاشرفیه وجود نداشت.» به همین دلیل، تمرینهایش را روی فرش خانه و در بسیاری از اوقات، روی شنهای ساحل انجام میداد. این سختیها، نه تنها او را ناامید نکرد، بلکه به او آموخت که برای رسیدن به قله، باید از موانع عبور کرد.
